@Jeremy: Yep. I agree with you on that count. But it pisses me off how being "gay" is made to look like a bad thing. BSB, irrespective of their talent (or lack of it), is popular. And no matter how you look at it,most kids would know Britney Spears and Westlife and Backstreet Boys but wouldn't have heard of Cradle of Filth or Megadeth. :)
In some circles, 'gay' is just used as an insult in it's own right, not implying a slur on gay people or reflecting on the target's sexual orientation. This is true, I guess, among gamers, to the point where the insult version is spelt ghey so you can tell the difference. I'm guessing this person didn't mean it that way, though.
